The Severin Sisters are Salem’s twin darlings . . . and with good reason! These young women have been out-performing the pros since they were mere children. Now professionals in their own right, they have charmed audiences from Nashville to Salem with award-winning talent and a blend of bluegrass and Americana music spiced with a hint of pop. The sisters are not only talented but are wise enough to back themselves with a couple of the best professional musicians around to complete the band. The group includes:
 |
Heidi Severin, stars with harmony vocals, fiddle and mandolin. She is the current Oregon State Mandolin Champion, reigning since 1999! In September 2002, Heidi placed second overall in the National Mandolin Championship in Winfield, Kansas. She and Amy have released two CDs: "Too Many Miles" and "Let's Talk" and were guest performers at the 2002 Seattle Bumbershoot celebration. Her natural musical gifts have been honed with years of traning and she has spent hours with teachers and practice . . . violin, guitar, upright bass, vocal, music composition, theater, ballet, jazz, acting . . . and all before she was old enough to vote! The photo at left was taken in Kansas, 2002, and you can just see the top of her trophy. |

Amy Severin, the equal half of the band’s duo sings lead vocal, plays guitar and her treasured 1934 banjo. She scored runner-up in the 1999 Oregon State Banjo Championship. Amy toured parts of the US pickin' and playin' to promote both of their CD releases. I had the opportunity of speaking with someone who met her for the first time when she and Heide were playing in Nashville. "She is SO good!" he said, "It's amazing when you think about how young she is and how many years of her life remain to just keep getting better. I wish I had been that dedicated when I was young but I was kind of all over the place musically. Amy is completely focused and right on track." |

Tom Nunes, sets the pace, beat and drive for the band on electric bass. Together with Matt Arcara, they provide a full-bodied and powerful sound that allows the girls’ musical riffs to sparkle across the top of the waves of rich music. In addition to The Severin Sisters, Tom is a regular member of the touring band, "Little Sue." |

Matt Arcara, acoustic guitar. Solo musician in his own right, he provides the solid flow of music that holds bluegrass together. |
