Mollybloom

Mollybloom, formed in 1995, features five of the most talented bluegrass musicians around. Their performances include fine original music by Dave Dahl and Jeff Shippy that showcase their "folksy" arrangements giving them a distinctive "contemporary" bluegrass sound all their own. Their highly acclaimed CD, "These Days," is available at local music stores for your listening pleasure. Members of Mollybloom include:
  • Dave Dahl, a practicing Music Therapist at the Oregon State Hospital. Dave is an outstanding pianist, but brings his 20 years of excellence on banjo and guitar to Mollybloom along with his composing and arranging talent.

  • Jeff Shippy, a string teacher in the Salem-Keizer School District, began his musical career at 12 when he learned to play the guitar. He then turned to the viola and his talent led him to play with several symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles before he returned to his first love, the guitar. His technical expertise now includes the fiddle as well, and Mollybloom benefits not only from his skill, but also from his intuition and love of bluegrass music.

  • Ron Relaford, a massage therapist and music teacher, has taught mandolin, banjo and guitar for over 30 years. Ron has an extensive, eclectic musical background that serves Mollybloom very well. His solid performance of impressive, intricate mandolin fingering belies his introverted demeanor. He says it all with his music.

  • Clark Blanchard, a public school music teacher in Silverton, Oregon, has been performing since 1963 although his career as a pianist and guitarist didn't actually start until in the 1970's. His experience in Pop, Rock and Jazz gives him a wide range of musical talent that he focuses in outstanding guitar performances for Mollybloom.

  • Matt Gray, the newest member, was the Oregon State Bluegrass Banjo Champion in 1996. Matt brings his innovative style and technical precision to Mollybloom with excellent banjo renditions that easily "stand alone" yet help this group to really "stand out in the crowd.""
Bluegrass fans can look forward to this blend of technical musical superiority and excellent, original vocals. For more information about Mollybloom, their upcoming schedule, to find out "who's who," and to listen to sound clips, visit the Mollybloom web page.
